Robrob8 is losing his vision... not becoming totally blind, but for the last few weeks his vision has been blurry and getting worse. He has an "Edema of the Retina" of his left eye, which in his case is a fluid buildup under his retina, which forces his eyes to focus differently, thus blurry vision and loss of depth perception. Through the magic of digital imagery, and a willing opthamologist assistant, I have exclusive pictures of Robrob8's right and left eyes. It's his left eye that has the edema, which is evident by the 'bubble' in the scope image.

Robrob8's family doctor, and several blood tests, have confirmed that the edema is not due to any underlying medical condition, such as diabetes. And the eye doctor has no medical reason for this affliction.

It may last 6 to 8 months, it may last my lifetime. It could cure itself, it could cause blindness. The edema may get worse, or it may go away on it's own, it is a fluid buildup that forces the retina away from it's usual position on the eyeball.

The images below were taken on March 15 2004. I hope to have more pictures from my next visit, at the end pf April. Wish me luck!

UPDATE - May 17 2004 - Well, no new pictures, but the edema is not growing or shrinking. I have given up driving, I don't need to kill anyone and a walk will do you good. And me good too. I am off work now, for how long I don't know. If you know, please email me.

May 21 2004 - Drastic times result in drastic measures. I have taken to wearing an eye patch to help rest my left eye and give my now strained and blurry right eye a chance to heal too.

July 4 2006: Robrob8 was diagnosed with "Ocular melanoma" a cancer in his eye. Treatment is ongoing at this time. His vision loss is permanent.
